MEET @ HUNTER-TANNERSVILLE - RESULTS - PICTURES - STORY

The WAJ's Girl's and Boy's Cross-Country teams lost to Maplehill at Tannersvilles' Colonial Golf course. The boys team scored 30 points to Maplehill's 26. They were led by senior Kevin Malen who won the race with a personal best time of 15 minutes 58 seconds. The boys top five was rounded out by Gus Shuster, Matthew Sullivan, Michael Lieshear, and Chris Martin who placed 4th, 6th, 8th, and 16th respectively. 

The girls team was incomplete in scoring, losing 50 to 15. Gabbi Morrelli led the way for the Lady Warriors placing 10th overall with a time of 24 minutes 32 seconds. Gabby Younes and Meagan Corrigan finished out the girl's team placing 11th and 15th.   

MEET @ COXSACKIE-ATHENS - RESULTS - PICTURES - STORY 

The WAJ Cross-country team competed against Hunter-Tannersville, Coxsackie-Athens, and Catskill High schools. On the boys side WAJ's Kevin Malen led the Warriors to sweep, placing first in a time of 16 minutes 58 seconds. WAJ's scoring five was rounded out by Gus Shuster 3rd, Michael Leishear 4th, Matthew Sullivan 5th, and Chris Martin 18th.  

On the girl's side WAJ was incomplete in competition. Gabi Morelli led the way placing 8th with a time of 25:37. Jenna Lashua, Justine Drum, and Cassidy Terrill finished out WAJ's runners, placing 10th, 13th ad 17th respectively.

RESULTSPICTURES - Nike Team Regionals

WAJ's Kevin Malen, Chris Weiman, and Chris Carl raced in the 2014 Nike Team Regional competition over Thanksgiving Break. Malen led the charge placing 19th out of 178 competitors. Seniors Chris Weiman and Chris Carl placed 52nd and 71st respectively. 

 


 

BOYS RESULTS - BOYS VIDEO - 2014 New York State Championships

WAJ's Kevin Malen ran his best race of the season this Saturday at the New York Cross Country State Championships. Malen, a Junior, placed 25th out of 119 runners in the Class D race. Despite the extremely muddy conditions, he was able run the 3.1 mile course in 17 minutes 38 seconds. Congratulations Kevin!

2014 Patroon Conference All Star List

This week the Patroom Conference recognized this season's Cross Country "all stars." Among that list was WAJ's Seniors Chris Weiman and Chris Carl and Junior Kevin Malen. All three Warriors were named First Team All Stars for the 2014 Season. Additionally, this Saturday Kevin Malen will represent WAJ in the New York State Meet at Canton. Malen will go down in history as WAJ's first Cross Country athlete to ever compete in that event. Congratulations Warriors! BOYS RESULTS - GIRLS RESULTS2014 Section 4 Championships

The WAJ Cross Country Team finished their season yesterday at the Section 4 Championships in Chenango. The Boys’ team finished in 5th place and had two athletes who placed in the top 10. Junior Kevin Malen and Senior Chris Weiman led the Warriors placing 7th and 9th. Kevin narrowly missed moving on to the State Meet by one place. The boys’ top seven was rounded out by Chris Carl, 15th, Michael Leishear, 38th, Mathew Sullivan, 54th, Dylan Muccilli, 55th, and Chris Martin, 71st. On the girls’ side, the Warriors finished 7th. Eighth Grader Jenna Lashua and Freshman Justine Drum led the team placing 38th and 49th. Rounding out the Girls’ top six was Abby Terrill, 66th, Meagan Corrigan, 72nd, Keily Linger, 73rd, Liz Martin 78th.  Congratulations to all.

RESULTS - 2014 Patroon Conference Championships

BOYS VIDEO - GIRLS VIDEO - MODIFIED VIDEO

Yesterday, the Boy’s and Girl’s Cross Country teams competed in the 2014 Patroon Conference Championships at Schodack Island State Park. In the Boy’s Modified race Alan Valencia was WAJ’s lone runner who placed 14th in a time of 14 minutes 13 seconds. In the Girl’s Modified race Victoria Shuster led WAJ with an 8th place finish in a time of 15 minutes 26 seconds. Madeline Forbes and Haley Benson rounded out the girls modified team with a 9th and 19th place finish. WAJ’s Boys’ Varsity Team placed 5th overall in a very competitive race. Once again the trio of Kevin Malen, Chris Weiman, and Chris Carl paved the way placing 6th, 7th, and 8th. All three boys finished within 1 second of each other. Rounding out the boy’s top five was Freshman Michael Leishear and Junior Dylan Muccilli who placed 38th and 48th. On the girl’s side, Jenna Lashua and Justine Drum led the Lady Warriors to a 7th place finish, placing 24th and 25th. The girl’s top five included Sophmore Gabby Morelli 34th, and Freshmen Abby Terrill and Meagan Corrigan who placed 51st ad 52nd respectively. Next week both teams travel to Chenango for the Section 4 State Qualifiers.

RESULTS - 2014 Greene County Championships 

Last Friday, at the Greene County Championships, the WAJ Boys’ Cross Country Team placed 2nd and the Girls’ Team placed 5th. The Boys’ team was led by the trio of Senior Chris Weiman, Junior Kevin Malen, and Senior Chris Carl who placed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Michael Lieshear and Matt Sullivan rounded out the top 5 placing 16th and 22nd. The girls’ team was led by the duo of eighth grader Jenna Lashua and freshman Justine Drum who placed 13th and 14th. The scoring top five for the girl’s was completed by Abby Terrill 25th, Meagan Corrigan 29th, and Liz Martin 33rd. RESULTS - Taconic Hills and Hawthorne Valley - October 14, 2014

The WAJ Boys' and Girls' Cross-Country Teams had mixed results against Taconic Hills and Hawthorne Valley. On the boys' side, WAJ lost to undefeated Taconic Hills, 18 to 41, while narrowly defeating Hawthorne Valley, 29 to 30. The boys' team was led by junior Kevin Malen who placed 5th with a time of 18:22. He was followed by teammates Chris Weiman, 6th, and Chris Carl, 7th. Michael Leishear and Chris Martin rounded out the scoring five, placing 21st and 29th respectively. The WAJ girls' team lost against Taconic Hills 25 to 32, but won against Hawthorne Valley 15 to 50. Freshmen Justine Drum paced the Warriors, placing 6th with a time of 27:01 second. She was followed closely by Eighth Grader Jenna Lashua who placed 7th. Rounding out the Girls' top five was Abby Terrill, 14th, Meagan Corrigan, 22nd, and Kiely Linger, 23rd. WAJ's Cross-country teams will race in the 2014 Greene County Championships this Friday at Greenville.

RESULTS - against Catskill - October 7, 2014 

The WAJ Cross-country teams had mixed results against Catskill. For the boy’s, they beat Catskill 18 to 43. Senior Chris Wieman won the race with a time of 18:58. He was followed closely by Junior Kevin Malen and Senior Chris Carl who placed 2nd and 3rd. The boy’s top five was completed by Sophomore Gus Shuster and Freshmen Michael Leishear who placed 5th and 7th.  On the girl’s side the team was incomplete in scoring. Freshman Justine Drum led the team with a time of 26:45 placing 9th. Rounding out the girl’s top four was Freshman Megan Corrigan, 15th, Senior Kiely Linger, 22nd, and Freshman Liz Martin, 25th. Next Tuesday, the WAJ cross-country teams will travel to Hawthorne-Valley for their last regular season meet.

RESULTS - Greenville, Hunter-Tannersville, Cario-Durham - September 30, 2014

The WAJ Boy’s and Girl’s Cross-country teams had mixed results. The Boy’s team was victorious against both Cairo-Durham 15 to 43 and Hunter-Tannersville 15 to 50, but lost to Greenville, the defending Patroon Conference Champions, 27 to 32. Pacing the Warriors was Junior Kevin Malen who placed second with a time of 16:39. He was followed by teammates Chris Weiman and Chris Carl who placed 3rd and 4th. Rounding out the scoring five was Michael Leishear and Gus Shuster who placed 13th and 14th. On the Girl’s side, the Lady Warriors beat both Hunter-Tannersville and Greenville 15 to 50, but lost to Cairo-Durham 20 to 39. Eighth Grader Jenna Lashua led to team placing 5th with a time of 22:24. The scoring top five for the girls included Gabby Morelli, 6th, Abby Terrill, 9th, Megan Corrigan 11th, and Keily Linger, 18th.

RESULTS against Maple Hill - September 23, 2014

Both the WAJ Boy's and Girl's Cross-country teams lost to Maple Hill. The boys narrowly lost 27 to 28. Senior Chris Weiman led the team placing 2nd with a time of 18:03 seconds and was followed by Kevin Malen and Chris Carl who placed 3rd and 4th. Michael Leishear and Gus Shuster rounded out the top five placing 13th and 16th. The Girl's team lost 21 to 38. Eighth Grader Jenna Lashua led the team placing 2nd with a time of 23:08 seconds. Rounding out the Girl's top five was Gabi Morelli 9th, Justine Drum 10th, Megan Corrigan 16th, and Abby Terrill 20th. Next week the Cross-country teams face Greenville at home.

RESULTS - PICTURES against Coxsackie-Athens - September 16, 2014

The WAJ Cross-country team had split results against Coxsackie-Athens. The Boy's Team won 16 to 39 and the girl's team lost 40 to 19. Senior Chris Weiman won the race with a time of 17:28 and was followed by teammates Chris Carl and Kevin Malen who placed 2nd and 3rd. Gus Shuster and Michael Lieshear rounded out the top 5, placing 5th and 7th. The Girl's team was led by Eighth-grader Jenna Lashua, who placed 3rd with a time of 21:46 seconds. Completing WAJ's top 5 was Gabby Morelli, 9th, Justine Drum, 12th, Abby Terrill, 16th, and Megan Corrigan, 18th.

The WAJ Boys Cross-country team won against Chattam, 26 to 29. The team was led by senior Chris Carl, who won the meet with a time of 16:40. The scoring top five for WAJ was rounded out by junior Kevin Malen who placed 3rd, senior Chris Wieman who placed 4th, sophomore Gus Shuster who placed 10th, and freshmen Michael Lieshear who placed 14th. The WAJ Girl's Cross-country team lost to 15 to 50. The team was led by eighth grader Jenna Lashua who placed 14th with a time of 24:21. The scoring top five also included junior Gabby Morelli who placed 15th, freshman Abby Terrill who placed 19th, freshman Megan Corrigan who placed 20th, and freshman Liz Martin who placed 28th.

On the girls side, WAJ's team was incomplete in team scoring. The team was led by freshman Justine Drum, freshman Megan Corrigan, and freshman Abby Terrill who placed 5th, 8th, and 11th.
